June 8, 2018 at DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) in Bicutan, Taguig.  Dr. Shena Faith M. Ganela took her Oath of Office as Campus Director of Philippine Science High School Western Visayas Campus (PSHS-WVC) in Jaro District, Iloilo City.  DOST Sec. De la Peña officiated this Oath Taking.

Witnessing this milestone were DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services, Dr. Carol M. Yorobe, DOST Assistant Secretary for Administration, Dr. Teodoro M. Gatchalian, PSHS System Executive Director Lilia T. Habacon, and PSHS System Chief Administrative Officer Ma. Concepcion B. Sakai.

Dr. Ganela was first appointed as Director of PSHS-WVC in 2012, succeeding Dr. Josette T. Biyo, who became the PSHS System Executive Director in 2011.  After completing her first term as WVC Director in April 2018, Dr. Ganela is re-appointed for another six years.

Dr. Ganela started her journey as a teacher in 1995, right after graduating as Magna Cum Laude from West Visayas State University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English.  She taught first in Sun Yat Sen High School, then in Iloilo National High School from 1996-2000.  She entered PSHS-WVC as a Special Science Teacher in 2000 until she was appointed as the Head of this campus, 12 years later.

She has a Master’s degree in Education major in English as a Second Language from the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, which she finished in 1999, and a Doctorate degree in Education major in Curriculum Development from West Visayas State University, which she completed in 2012.
